The National Marine Manufacturers Association is adding Dallas to its Discover Boating show portfolio. Scheduled for March 2027, the new DTX Boat Show will create a meeting point for North Texas buyers and marine businesses, with the ownership conversation extending beyond the boats on display.

A New Date for North Texas

The inaugural Discover Boating DTX Boat Show is scheduled for 18–21 March 2027 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. NMMA says it has secured approximately 300,000 square feet of space under an agreement extending through 2029.

The announcement also sets dates for the following two editions: 16–19 March 2028 and 1–4 March 2029. That gives the new event a planned multi-year presence, although its first edition has yet to take place.

NMMA identifies North Texas as the market it wants to serve more directly. Its release says the Dallas–Fort Worth region has approximately 179,000 registered boats. That figure describes an existing boating community; it should not be confused with projected attendance or prospective sales at the new show.

A Place to Ask Ownership Questions

The announced plans include boating education and experiential features alongside dealer participation. Local businesses named in the release include MarineMax, OneWater Marine and Waterview Marinas.

For a buyer, the useful opportunity is to connect a boat with the circumstances in which it will be used. Storage, launch arrangements, service support and access to local waters can shape an ownership decision as much as a favourite layout. An event can help make those questions easier to discuss when relevant businesses are available in the same place.

A first-time visitor may also arrive without a settled shortlist. In that situation, time spent comparing seating, access and handling arrangements can be valuable even before any purchase conversation begins. The right starting point is the kind of day the buyer wants to have on the water.

Building an Event People Return To

From an industry perspective, the first edition will be an introduction. The more revealing measure comes later: whether visitors receive useful follow-up and whether participating businesses find reason to return.

It would be premature to treat the announced floor area as evidence of commercial success. What it establishes is the scale of the planned setting. The event's character will emerge through its exhibitor mix, visitor experience and the relationships formed there.

For AUVEMARE readers, Dallas is a reminder to look beyond coastal calendars when following the recreational boating market. The new show offers a specific future date around which to watch that regional ownership conversation develop.
