Spirit Yachts’ new P50 Sport translates the builder’s modern classic identity into a motor yacht centred on shared time aboard. Following its London unveiling earlier this month, the design brings together crafted timber interiors, a sociable cockpit and performance intended for coastal days with family and friends.

A Motor Yacht With a Recognisable Identity

The P50 Sport was officially introduced at St Katharine Docks in London on October 2 and 3. Its sister design, the P50 Coupé, offers another interpretation of the same modern classic approach.

Spirit has organised the Sport around an open bar and galley, a mahogany dining table and U-shaped seating. Foredeck loungers and a generous swim platform provide additional places to spend time outside.

That arrangement gives the launch a clear design story. Rather than asking owners to move between several formal entertaining areas, the cockpit brings preparing food, conversation and dining into one setting.

Craftsmanship With a Practical Role

Below deck, a double cabin and an ensuite bathroom support overnight stays. A circular wooden shower is a particularly distinctive example of the yard’s craftsmanship. The interior also includes seating and a galley, with scope for owner-specific styling.

Spirit lists twin Volvo Penta D6 IPS600 drives, each rated at 440 horsepower, with a stated maximum speed of 34 knots and cruising speed of 25 knots. These are builder-published figures, not results from an AUVEMARE sea trial.

Lead designer Thomas Smith describes the starting point of the project:

“From the start, we focused on the end user and the purpose of the yacht”

For a buyer, that philosophy is worth examining through ordinary use. The practical question is whether the attractive social layout also feels comfortable when people are coming back from a swim, preparing lunch or moving forward while others remain seated.

Character Beyond the First Impression

A yacht with such a strong material identity invites close attention to the details people touch and use. A table’s proportions, the position of a handhold and the route through a cockpit can matter as much as the silhouette seen from the dock.

The P50 Sport offers a relatively intimate setting in which to judge those choices. Its appeal will be clearest to someone who can picture a particular day aboard, rather than someone comparing it only through length and speed. The combination of recognisable craftsmanship and an informal layout provides the basis for that more personal conversation.
