TEMO Shows a Compact Electric Backup Installation on a Loxo 32

A Loxo 32 installation demonstrates a specific role for electric propulsion: a compact auxiliary motor kept aboard for use if the main engine becomes unavailable.

TEMO has described an OUTPOD·1000 installation on a Loxo 32 motorboat, completed by CN Diffusion in Loctudy. The owner's brief was to add backup propulsion without leaving a second motor permanently exposed on the transom.

The battery and wiring remain installed inside the boat. The motor is stored aboard and can be deployed on a sliding mount when needed.

An auxiliary role with clear limits

The Loxo 32's approximately 1.8-tonne light displacement makes this a specific, limited-use application for the compact system. TEMO describes its purpose as assisting low-speed control and reducing drift, rather than reproducing normal cruising performance.

The manufacturer's account does not establish guaranteed progress against every current or wind condition. The installation illustrates an additional propulsion option, with capability that needs to be understood in relation to the vessel and conditions.
