ISWAN’s YachtCrewHelp 2025 Annual Review records growing demand for confidential support, bringing employment pressures, mental wellbeing and harmful onboard behaviour into clearer view.

The review draws on 473 helpline cases involving yacht crew and their families during 2025. New contacts increased by 75.8% compared with the previous year. ISWAN links that growth partly to greater awareness of, and trust in, the service.

Employment and wellbeing are closely connected

Mental health-related contacts rose by 55.2%, while contacts involving abuse, bullying, harassment, discrimination or violence increased by 29.4%. Crew also sought help with contracts, unpaid wages, recruitment and finding work.

These are patterns among people contacting a helpline, rather than a representative survey of every yacht crew member. They should not be read as industry-wide prevalence figures.

YachtCrewHelp provides free, confidential, multilingual assistance around the clock. Alongside that support, ISWAN’s Welfare of Yacht Crew Project works with industry partners to improve working culture and access to help.
